UTSA Tests Giant Voice Outdoor Sirens

(March 9, 2012) — The outdoor Giant Voice emergency notification system will be tested between 3:30 and 5 p.m., Wednesday, March 14 at the UTSA Main Campus. UTSA community members and visitors who are outdoors on the Main Campus will hear periodic voice announcements and electronic tones and should not be alarmed.

On March 14, five outdoor siren towers will be tested individually and simultaneously. Recent upgrades to the Giant Voice system include new buildings outfitted with the speaker system and a new siren tower in the parking lot adjacent to the south parking garage.

“Our number one goal is safety for the UTSA community and campus visitors,” said Lorenzo Sanchez, UTSA director of emergency management. “We test the notification system periodically so that we can be certain it will operate in case of an emergency when seconds count. We thank everyone for their patience as we conduct these important tests at the UTSA Main Campus.”
