Gas line break at UTSA Main Campus brings hot water outage

(May 30, 2012, 11:45 a.m.) — Natural gas was shut off to eight buildings on the UTSA Main Campus to make repairs to a gas line break that occurred this morning during construction work. The break was isolated quickly, and staff members are working to repair the line and restore service. During the outage, there will be no hot water available in the affected buildings. The outage does not affect autoclaves and other equipment utilizing steam.

The affected buildings are the Business Building; John Peace Library; Main Building; Arts Building; Science Building; Biotechnology, Sciences and Engineering Building; Multidisciplinary Studies Building and McKinney Humanities Building.

The gas line break occurred during trenching at the construction site of the Peace roundabout on the north side of the Main Campus.
