District 8 Superhero 5K race to impact Main Campus roads

Access to a series of Main Campus roads will be impacted on Saturday, August 10 when UTSA hosts the District 8 Superhero 5K race. Students, faculty, staff and visitors coming to campus for final exams and other programs on the morning of the race are encouraged to allow extra time to navigate campus entrances and parking.

Race Day will begin at 6:30 a.m. on Aug. 10 and is expected to last until approximately 10:30 a.m. The race’s start/finish linewill be located in the East Campus parking lot on the UTSA Main Campus.

During the race, commuter parking will be accessible by entering the Main Campus from UTSA Blvd. This includes the East Campus parking lots and Barshop lots. The Brackenridge lots will be undergoing road repairs the morning of the race and should be accessed from the UTSA Blvd. side of campus.

Drivers entering the 1604 side of campus must use the Brenan Ave. entrance. It is the only UTSA entrance along Loop 1604 that will be open during the race. Cross-campus travel will proceed along Brenan Ave. In addition, the Tobin Avenue Garage, Bauerle Road Garage, Bauerle Road Lot 2 and Bauerle Road Lot 3 will not be accessible until the race concludes.

By mid-day, parking and traffic on campus are expected to resume as usual, excluding roads currently undergoing maintenance.

The District 8 Superhero 5K race is a San Antonio Sports Fit Family Challenge, presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas and District 8 Councilman Manny Pelaez.
