CPS Maintenance work causes brief power outage at UTSA Main Campus

There was a brief power outage at 1:43 p.m., Wednesday, July 18 at the UTSA Main Campus. The unintentional outage occurred during maintenance work by CPS Energy at an on-campus electrical substation.

Because network servers for the three UTSA campuses are on the Main Campus, all UTSA work locations experienced temporary network outages when the power was off. Email and Internet service resumed shortly after the power was restored. Facilities Operations and Maintenance staff are restoring air condition units, resetting power systems in some buildings, which includes automated maintenance systems.

To avoid losing valuable information if an outage occurs, remember to save computer documents frequently as you work. Most importantly, with the safety of the UTSA community in mind, always be aware of the nearest emergency exit and review your office evacuation plan. If your office has no evacuation plan, establish one. Additional preparedness information can be found by visiting the UTSA Campus Alerts (http://alerts.utsa.edu/) webpage.

If your office continues to experience issues related to the power outage, please call Facilities Work Control at (210) 458-4262.

For emergency preparedness information, please contact the UTSA Office of Emergency Management at (210) 458-6851.
