Coronavirus Update: Spring Break Extended Through March 22

For the most current updates on UTSA’s ongoing monitoring of the coronavirus outbreak, please visit our Coronavirus information website.

    Campus Operations:

    • UTSA is extending spring break for its students through the week of March 15 so it can continue to prepare its campuses against the threat of coronavirus while ensuring the academic progress of its students.
    • When classes resume on March 23, they will be conducted via online platforms rather than through in-person sessions.
    • UTSA campuses will remain open during and following the spring break extension. Faculty and staff currently on spring break will return next week to continue preparing for virtual instruction and the continuity of academics and business operations.
    • Online delivery of instruction will continue through at least April 13, with university leadership assessing the situation on a daily basis. During that time, students are encouraged to stay at home if possible. The university recognizes, however, that campus housing is the home to many students and they are welcome to return.
    • The university is implementing social distancing practices for public events involving more than 50 people. The university will evaluate each event with a consideration for health impact. Organizers are being encouraged to consider postponing, canceling or conducting the events virtually where appropriate.
    • Students, faculty, staff and visitors on campus will also be expected to follow social distancing measures recommended by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization, including maintaining a distance of at least three feet between individuals and practicing good hygiene.
    • International travel guidelines are in place for faculty, staff and students traveling abroad. Travel within the US is not impacted at this time.
