Important Safety Message

On February 23, 2017, the UTSA Police Department received a report of a sexual assault that occurred on February 9, 2017 at Chaparral Village between the hours of 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.

The suspect entered a room and sexually assaulted a female student.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, late 30’s to early 40’s, 5’8” to 5’9” tall, medium “chubby” build, dark short to medium length hair, small eyes and large ears. The suspect was wearing a peach colored shirt, light colored blue jeans and brown work boots.

Police have increased patrols of the housing areas on campus. Please remember to be aware of your surroundings at all times. Walk in groups or pairs. Remember to always close and lock your doors and windows. Do not open your doors for anyone you do not know.

We urge anyone with information regarding this incident to contact the UTSA Police Department at (210) 458-4911. If you see someone behaving suspiciously, immediately contact the UTSA Police Department.

There is no evidence to indicate that this incident is associated with the sexual assaults reported in the Medical Center area. The UTSA Police Department has not received any reports that the suspect in those assaults has been seen on or in the vicinity of any UTSA campus, contrary to some social media posts and news reports.
