Important Update from the UTSA Police Department

On Wednesday, April 28th, the Austin Police Department notified San Antonio law enforcement authorities including the UTSA Police Department that it had received a report approximately three weeks earlier of a potential terroristic threat against UTSA. Numerous law enforcement agencies including the FBI and the regional Joint Terrorism Task Force immediately began a thorough investigation and, after talking with family members of a person-of-interest in the matter, they determined that at no point was there a threat specifically to UTSA.

Out of an abundance of caution, however, a law enforcement bulletin was issued to area police agencies since a relative of the person-of-interest is a student at UTSA. Authorities have since obtained information indicating that the person-of-interest is not currently in Texas and does not pose a credible threat to the university. UTSA Police, the FBI and San Antonio law enforcement agencies are continuing their investigation.
