Important Public Safety Announcement

Dear UTSA Community,

The UTSA Police Department is aware of recent social media posts claiming that there are various crimes occurring on and around the UTSA Main Campus.

These reports are not accurate.

Here is what you need to know:

  • On Tuesday, January 31, an armed robbery took place in the University Oaks apartment complex on the Main Campus. Because the victim and the suspect knew each other, UTSA PD believes that this was not a random crime and is not associated with any other incidents.
  • Reports suggesting that a suspect in a series of sexual assaults in the Medical Center has been seen on the UTSA campus have not been substantiated by or reported to UTSA PD.
  • Claims that four women have been attacked at UTSA have not been reported to the San Antonio Police Department or to UTSA PD.

The safety of all students, faculty, staff and visitors is of paramount importance to UTSA – and to me. As a father, a husband and a police officer, I know how concerning it can be to read things on social media or see a television news story and to not have the facts.

I want to assure you that if we see something that concerns us or jeopardizes the safety of any member of the UTSA community, I will let you know.

Stay tuned to this web page, and to our UTSA Police Department social media channels, for the most up-to-date information about campus safety.  Please explore this website for safety tips and preparedness information.
