Test of Giant Voice mass notification system is 3-5 p.m., Sept. 20

(September 19, 2013) — As a key component of university preparedness, the UTSA Office of Emergency Management will conduct an outdoor test of the Giant Voice emergency notification system between 3 and 5 p.m., Friday, Sept. 20, 2013 at the UTSA Main Campus.

What can you expect to hear? All outdoor siren towers will broadcast the following test message twice: “Attention, attention: This is a test of the UTSA Giant Voice Emergency Notification System. This is only a test.” During the announcements, no evacuations will be necessary, and there will be no cause for alarm.

Additionally, the newly constructed San Saba Hall residence facilty will undergo an indoor test of the Main Campus emergency notification system at 3 p.m. that day to ensure the system is fully functional after recent installation. No evacuations will be necessary from San Saba Hall during that test.

September is National Preparedness Month, and tests of the UTSA emergency notification systems highlight our dedication to preparedness in the UTSA community as well as ensuring the university is ready for natural or other hazards.
